Despite its smaller size, the TS-C packs a punch in terms of functionality and accuracy, thanks to its 16-bit flash microprocessor and high-precision temperature-compensated crystal oscillator (TCXO).
Reading, Generating, & Displaying Timecode
The Denecke TS-C is capable of reading, generating, and displaying SMPTE/EBU LTC timecode. It can jam to all standard frame rates, including 23.976 for high-definition video. User bits are set automatically when the device is jammed to an external time code. In manual set mode, frame rates can be cross-jammed, and the auto-set mode allows for automatic jamming to the same frame rate as the incoming time code.
The TS-C is also a versatile time code reader, capable of reading both ascending and descending timecode. It can display off-speed timecode used in special situations such as music video playback and can be configured as a “+1 frame reader” to display timecode in real-time.
Aaton Serial Communication and Sync Error Warning
The TS-C is the first Denecke product to support Aaton serial protocol, allowing for seamless communication between the slate and other Aaton-compatible devices. Sync errors resulting from differing frame rates are detected and warned, ensuring accuracy and synchronization in multi-camera setups.
Electro-Luminescent (EL) Backlit Face Plate and Display Intensity Control
The Denecke TS-C features an EL backlit face plate, making it easy to read time code and settings in low-light environments. Display intensity can be adjusted in 12 precise steps, with each step equal to 1/2 f-stop in exposure, allowing for optimal visibility under varying lighting conditions.
Battery and Power Management
The TS-C is powered by six alkaline “AA” batteries and includes a quick-load battery pack with a sliding access door for easy battery replacement. The device also supports external power sources ranging from 5.7v to 16v DC. A battery voltage readout and low battery warning ensure that users are always aware of the slate’s power status.
Re-Jamming Without Powering Down
With the Denecke TS-C, there’s no need to power down the device to re-jam timecode. Users can simply close the sticks and press the display brightness up button while feeding external timecode to the slate, allowing for a seamless and uninterrupted workflow.
Choice of Clapper Sticks
The TS-C comes with a choice of either black & white or color clapper sticks, catering to personal preferences and offering flexibility in different production environments.
